Catherine Losing is a London based photographer and filmmaker. She has established a distinctive practice that merges conceptual still life, portraiture, and documentary projects, often exploring themes of culture, identity, and visual aesthetics.
Since graduating with a BA (Hons) in Photography from Nottingham Trent University, Losing has worked internationally as a photographer and director, collaborating with the biggest names in design, tech, food and fashion. Alongside her commercial work, she has exhibited widely, including group shows with Magnum Photos, New York; Les Rencontres d’Arles, Arles; Barbican, London and Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich. A solo exhibition, Portrait of a Village was presented at the Museum of Modern Art, Odesa.
She has received recognition from the Association of Photographers (AOP) Awards, winning Gold and Silver in 2022, as well as placements in the Food Photographer of the Year Award and the Sheffield International Film Festival. Beyond her creative practice, Losing is an experienced lecturer and mentor, delivering workshops and talks at universities and institutions across the UK. She is also an active mentor, supporting emerging photographers from disadvantaged backgrounds through mentoring schemes and industry initiatives.
